Annual 5K & Family Fun Day

Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School

Our 5K and Family Fun Day not only funds our mission, it also fulfills our mission by providing opportunities for families in our community to have fun, show off their talents, and connect with other members of our community.

  • Professionally timed 5K (3.1 miles) along the Assabet Valley River Rail Trail.

  • Our Resource Fair will provide families the opportunity to connect with resources including recreational programs, service providers, medical professionals, and others who serve individuals with autism and related disorders.

  • We are looking for volunteers to help us put on an amazing event. Click Here to learn more!

COMMITTEE MEMBERS NEEDED! We are looking for community members to join our 5K and Family Fun Day Committee to help us plan and produce this awesome event. Read the Committee Descriptions below and then complete the form to join!

Family Fun Day:  

  • Reach out to local venders to invite them to attend the 5K and enhance guest experience 

  • Secure interactive experiences and entertainment for participants of all ages including, but not limited to: interactive music sessions, yoga, yard games, local school bands, DJ, bounce house, water games, crafts, and more!!

  • Meets Monthly  

Food and Beverage 

  • Invite restaurants, food trucks, and ice cream shops to join the event and serve participants 

  • Secure donations of water, snacks, and energy drinks to help fuel runners and walkers from places such as Target, Wegmans, etc. 

  • Meets Monthly 

Autism Resource Fair: 

  • By phone and email, recruit organizations to join us with a table and booth to share their resources and program information

  • Check ins with Team/Chair as needed  

Media & Marketing 

  • Outreach and distribution of flyers to local businesses, gyms and run clubs 

  • Assist Communications and Marketing Coordinator with social media content and press outreach 

  • Meets Monthly 

Corporate Partnerships 

  • By phone, email, and visiting businesses, help recruit new corporate partners to form corporate teams and/or sponsor the event.

  • Check-ins with Director of Development

Volunteers: 

  • Recruit and assign volunteers to assist with the event set-up and production 

  • Assist in collection of volunteer documentation (e.g., waiver and CORI form) 

  • Train Volunteers for event day roles 

Raffles and Silent Auction

  • Solicit donations of raffle items to help increase event revenue 

  • Assemble baskets and auction packages

  • Check ins with Team/Chair as needed  

Host Your Own Neighborhood 5K: 

  • Committee Members will create a kit and engage families and community members who can’t join us in person.  Set up a “do it yourself/ DIY 5K” for families and neighborhoods to host 

  • Meets Monthly
